Another very small step, but this happening in a southern state is a great thing! I’m actually pretty surprised that they will allow 5% THC – cool! :stoned

Yesterday in Atlanta, Georgia’s Senate voted 48-6 in favor of legalizing medical marijuana via high CBD oils for citizens with eight serious ailments ranging from epilepsy to Chron’s disease. The measure now goes to the House which is expected to approve the bill today thus paving the way for safe access in Georgia.
Governor Nathan Deal will likely sign the bill into state law shortly thereafter. The bill calls for a Georgia Commission on Medical Cannabis to regulate institute the program. While the bill won’t protect employees who medicate from being fired, it will bring aid to patients in need:
The bill passed by the Senate allows a limit of 5 percent THC for treatment of seizure disorders, sickle cell anemia, cancer, Crohn’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), mitochondrial disease, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. An amendment to add autism failed.
Patients would be able to obtain up to 20 ounces of cannabis oil under strict supervision of their doctors and the state. [Times Free Press]
Thus, by week’s end, Georgia will probably become the 13th state to allow CBD oils to treat epilepsy. But like most of these other states with pro-CBD bills in place, accessing the substance in Georgia remains a myth as not a soul in Georgia grows the stuff.
It’s only a matter of time. Keep on knocking them down!
