We urge you to speak out and let our assembly members know why we need to keep kratom legal in New York State.  If you don’t take the time needed to contact the assembly members in New York State you will loose your right to purchase kratom. 

Like many of you Kratom has given me my life back.  After having an unfortunate accident I was left with 11 fractured vertebrae, 5 herniated discs, 6 broken ribs, shattered scapula, torn rotor, torn labrum and a guaranteed shortened life due to the harmful side-effects from the prescription pain killers that were quickly damaging my kidneys and liver.  I could write a book here on how Kratom has helped give me a better quality of life but, I’ll save that for the letter I’m sending to my Senator and Assembly Members of New York State and I urge you to do the same!

To help make this simple for you I have copied the template below from the American Kratom Association’s facebook page. They made this very easy for everyone as they have not only setup a template for you to follow, they have also included the email addresses where you will need to send your letter.

New York is the latest state to introduce legislation that would ban kratom at a state level. Assembly Bill A8670 sponsored by Assembly Member Aileen Gunther, and it’s Senate Companion Bill S6345 sponsored by Senator David Carlucci, were introduced in January, 2016. Here’s what you can do NOW to help keep kratom legal in New York.

THE PROCESS
These bills must work their way through committees in both chambers (the House, called the "Assembly" in NY, and the Senate), on their way to becoming law. It is unclear how many total committees the bills must travel through, but right now the Assembly Bill is in the Economic Development Committee, and the Senate Bill is in the Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. These may be the only two required committees, but we’re still verifying the process. If the bills make it out of all required committees, they are then voted on, on the "Floor" of both chambers (meaning a public roll-call vote). If they win a majority vote in each, they move on to be signed into law by the Governor, with an effective date of January 1, 2017.

Last year The American Kratom Association stopped bills in FL at the committee level and they’re hoping to do the same in New York, but they can’t do it without YOU, especially NEW YORK RESIDENTS.

Right now we need you to 1) Send letters/e-mails and 2) Make phone calls, by clicking on the actual committee links and calling the numbers listed for the chair and each member.

1) SENDING E-MAILS – WHAT/WHO TO WRITE:

To the Honorable Members of the NY State Legislature regarding Bills A8670 and S6345,

My name is ________, I’m a __-year old _________ from _________ and I’d like to voice my concern about A8670 and S6345, two identical bills being reviewed at the committee level. Then BRIEFLY summarize:
-How you came to use kratom (did you learn about it in a chronic pain support group, etc?)-What ailments you suffer, what treatments haven’t worked (prescriptions, surgery, etc.), how long you’ve been dealing with your condition, how long you’ve been using kratom and how many/what medications you’ve been able to quit.-What kratom means to you (has it given you your life back, have you gone back to work, can you play with your, exercise or travel, etc., something anecdotal about why kratom is important and should be available).-Conclusion: Kratom is a safe alternative to pharmaceutical drugs with important medicinal uses and has changed my life, so I’m asking you to please vote against A8670 and S6345.
