It’s true, the internet is not private at all. The internet is kind of like being forced to participate in a nudist fashion show for the government lol

so you want to see which websites are tracking you?
http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/collusion/

Collusion is an addon for firefox that shows a visual representation of all the sites that are either storing cookies on your computer or tracking you in some way. It might seem overwhelming when you see it visually but that’s what the internet is now, a huge trail of data that can easily be traced to you.
This is why it’s important to use TOR (like axa mentioned in another thread in this section) to browse safely.

There are also other good ways to set up your browser to be protected. You can download and install adblock for firefox to block most cookies from known advertisers. You could also use a VPN service like the one on www.btguard.com; these can be very difficult to setup though, even for me.

whatever you decide to do stay safe and know that any data you ever put on the internet will not go away….ever.

Great post Dash; this needs to be bumped back to the top of the topic list for those who missed it before (like me). I downloaded collusion on my Firefox browser and took it for a test drive. I can’t say I was surprised by what I saw but the reality did hit me a little bit. Here is an article I read this morning that is some food for thought as well:

http://www.nbcnews.com/technology/facebook-forensics-what-feds-can-learn-your-digital-crumbs-6C10240840?ocid=msnhp&pos=5

Be careful in your internet life folks. Protect your privacy and do all you can to avoid being exploited >>>>victim.

Agree with tonedef….A good VPN is nice also, usually charges involved though, but not always.

Adblock, DoNotTrackMe and NoScript plugins will clean up Firefox nicely.

I do use Tor although it is still excruciatingly slow, so it is not an all  the time thing. Thanks for bringing up VPN; for those not in the know, a "free" VPN is usually full of adware or possibly malware.

Internet Explorer 10 has inprivate browsing. You just gotta know what you are doing. Vpn na I ain’t paying for shit I don’t have to. It all start’s with your ip provider. Step 1 get a good ip provider that don’t look at your crap all the time. Step 2 Protect your HOME, A good router is always’s key. Step 3 USE A PROTECTED KEY ON YOUR ROUTER DUHHHHH, and not no crap wep key or nothing like that a wpa2 personal is good. Step 4 Use a protected browser all the TIME. Make sure you have either window’s firewall on or another good firewall protection. Step 5 no google lol that’s a no no, they have had people that montior what is typed in the search box, they say they are not pinpointing no one just collecting data. Pssshh believe that bs if you want. Step 6 If you torrent, use Utorrent ! Step 7, I know it sound’s mean but don’t leave thing’s seeding after you download it, take it out of your torrent program. People are seeding off of you your are wide open to the world !. Follow this & you might slide by. I have but I also use program’s that sweep my computer as soon as I turn it off. Good Program Advanced System Care Pro. Oh Yea about forgot if you are using internet explorer go to your setting’s and turn on the option where it say’s sweep history after closing out of browser. Anyway’s maybe this will shed some light on thing’s. And oh yea lol this ain’t nothing new, yea it’s got worse but I ain’t got no worrie’s. Why Live Life In Fear ?  :postwhore: :Smokey:

None of this will do anything to protect you from authorities.
