Pot Shop Runs Out Of Product, Others Raise Prices
DENVER (CBS4) – The first week of legal pot sales in Colorado is over, and now some Colorado pot shops are already running out of product.
In the past week, long lines of customers swamped the Colorado dispensaries that have been granted retail marijuana licenses and bought nearly $5 million worth of pot.
The Clinic at 3888 East Mexico Avenue in Denver is now officially out of recreational pot. More than 800 customers from across the country showed up there on the first day.
They expect a new supply to arrive on Monday morning at 9 a.m.
Many shops are limiting the amount of pot a customer can buy, and some have raised their rates.
Marijuana shop owners like Moe Atieh of Citi-Med at 1640 East Evans Avenue say there’s no way the current supply can meet the demand.
“We are okay right now but if things go the way they are we might be also running very short,†Atieh said. “We expected it to be very busy. Did we expect it to be this busy? No, I don’t think anybody did.â€
Under the current rules, pot shops have to grow their own marijuana, and for many stores with the approved licensing it will be several months before the first recreational pot harvest will be ready.
Until then shop owners hope more shops will open to absorb the tens of thousands of new customers.
“Hopefully we can catch our breath and get through the next couple of harvests and have enough for everybody,†Atieh said.
Tracy Spencer purchased two joints at The Clinic before it ran out. She said the pot shortage comes as no surprise.
“It was okay with me, I guess, because you expect it. There are a lot of people here in Colorado who bombarded every dispensary that went to retail sales,†Spencer said.
One customer who drove to The Clinic from his Glendale home went away somewhat dejected on Wednesday.
“Well, I spent gas for nothing,†Nick Rousis said. “I’m disappointed, but I understand it’s pretty competitive.â€
Great for the industry, but it would really suck to be able to buy legally and everyone is dry! :smokin
Its OK everybody, they still have the black market for the real users :weedspin
Idk if I want "legal pot" so many pesitcides in it most likely. Might as well smoke blends if I want chemical weed.
Since most of it is grown indoors these days, I don’t think pesticides are that big of a concern. There’s even been talk about providing oversight to insure quality, etc. but I don’t want too much control being given to the overlords.
That being said, the Colorado law lets you grow your own. That’s the direction I’m heading as soon as its legal for me!

If you only knew for one powdery mildew is huge in california and i believe colarado. Not to mention most popular strains are all weak as hell to powdery mildew chemdawg kush strains green crack etc. And if you get it you either start over or spray your plant with a chemical fungicide like eagle 20. E20 is one of the only legal products sold in the states that accually KILLS pm. E20 is big in cali and is used on grapes. E20 stays in plants for a long time and some people say there alot of risk in cancer and reproductive system. And belive me there is almost no possible way to kill pd completly from a plant with organics and tricks they tell you. All you can do is use something like e20 or doing what you can with envirorment and spraying basic remedys to stop it from spready all over your plant.
Also alot of people cant even control spider mites and have seen foggers being used to bud sprayed during flowering with who knows what.
And these retail places are normally where these practices are used.

Cool – thanks for the info, Grind. I’ve never had the luxury of buying medical or anything remotely legal, so my experience with that is limited. Will have to watch out for that if I ever get the chance. Any hints on how to tell if something is overly tainted? I get of lot of high end the old fashioned way, and the bulk of it seems pretty damn legit. Just cannot stand the prices!
If the legal deal ever comes to my neighborhood, then I’m going to grow my own again. I’ve done it in the past, and it was just too damn easy. I use nothing but organics, and having the right grow light is key. I used to use a ballast that would accommodate both halogen and high pressure sodium bulbs. That with some good soil, bat guano and liquid seaweed, and I grew some stuff that was truly legendary. Just amazing how many strains there are to choose from these days. Can’t wait! :weedspin

Spider-mites are almost impossible to eradicate once they take hold unless it is a purely ornamental plant. If it’s a vegetable or anything to be consumed you are pretty much fucked if you want to stay sans chemical spray. . Been there tried that
However spider-mites are mostly active with too low humidity levels, Again once they take hold its too late IMO but I’m not up on all the latest techniques for that. All I know is that all the legal types of plants I grow that are susceptible to them need certain things to never get them 1) space and air, crowding is a disaster waiting to happen
2) humidity. the minute they dry out in hot air the life cycle begins and will continue to accelerate.
When I bring leafy type plants in for the winter I never put them near any type of heater duct. If there are eggs from being in another location they will hatch quick as fuck and you are done
Just my experience
Life is The realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed
Thats just it spider mites is easy its called neem oil ive healed 2 growers whole setup with just neem oil and cleaning room and plants. Reapply every now and then and you just wont get em. Spider mites is not as hard to get rid as pm.
Only reason i brought spider mites up because thats prob number one reason budding plants in larger or no etiqque setups use bad practice with spraying or using weird products. Or doing nothing at all and enjoy that spider mite bud.
I have used neem oil on my doggy, it was totally safe, unlike many chemicals. Neem oil disrupts the flow of information in bugs so while it may not kill them all, most of them will lose interest in continuing the destructive things they do to plants, as they just seem to forget exactly what they were supposed to be doing. If you decide to go this route, beware of the high-priced scalpers of this substance. I buy from www.bulkapothecary.com
as they offer larger sized portions for much less $$
