DEA Bans Armored Cars From Picking up Pot Shop Cash…
Medical marijuana is legal in California, but the combination of valuable drugs and what is often a cash-only business can attract some rough characters.
That’s why some dispensaries use armored car companies to get their money to and from their favorite bank (or elsewhere). But the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration says no more. The federal authority has told armored car companies they can no longer work with some, perhaps all, cannabis retailers in California and Colorado.
The pro-pot forces were up in arms today:
The group Law Enforcement Against Prohibition called it "an unbelievably ill-advised move" after U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced new sentencing guidelines for low-level offenders such as pot users.
Holder is the DEA’s boss: Is the Obama administration for or against medical marijuana?
Retired LAPD deputy chief Stephen Downing of LEAP says in a statement:
Combined with federal restrictions and threats made to banks about doing business with marijuana providers, this ensures that businesses known to carry large amounts of cash will be transporting that cash without professional protection. You couldn’t create a situation more ripe for criminal intervention if you tried. It’s like the directive was written by petty thugs rather than by one of the most powerful agencies of the US government.
In Los Angeles dispensaries have been victimized by violent, sometimes deadly robberies. That doesn’t mean that armored cars are the solution, but some believe having armed guards pick up and deliver cash can be a deterrent.
Steve DeAngelo, executive director of Harborside Health Center in Oakland:
The federal government appears willing to do anything that will turn this inherently safe plant into something dangerous, no matter the impact on public health or safety. In 2011 they closed our bank accounts, which forced us to handle and store cash on-site. Now they have denied us any secure way to transport that cash to those whom we owe money–like the City of Oakland, and the California Board of Equalization.
Aaron Smith, executive director of the National Cannabis Industry Association, said the move will continue to push the medical cannabis drug trade underground instead of out in the open where, he argues, it would be safer:
The true nature of the Obama administration’s approach to voter-approved medical marijuana is now clear. They want more cash underground. They want our streets to be more dangerous.

This is Bullshit.
what the hell?

This bs move shows just how small-time the current regime is.
Obviously unhappy cause they haven’t manage to find any feasible way to profit from
the mmj industry, like a churlish brat they just wanna see that nobody will profit. Then
in order to make it so this bs is published nationally in the hopes that some criminal will
rob the businesses. I don’t really see a problem here, one call to a large private detective
business will find some well-trained bonded & insured men who will be happy to transport
that money while heavily armed, to a safe place (bank)
That is a great option jones, I did not think about that. Probably even better than having a big armored Truck sitting outside your business.

BlackTalon would do it.
It feels good to be running from the devil
Another breath and I'm up another level
It feels good to be up above the clouds
It feels good for the first time in a long time now
what the hell?
No brother, that is "What the fuck?? Seriously??"
Let’s ban the secret service for a while…
The whole thing is sooo juvenile, didn’t these a-holes ever hear of congress?
They aren’t allowed to just pull new laws outta their asses.
Whole thing reminds me of pre-schoolers playing Simon Says on the playground
Simon Says show me your rack :titsout: now thats affirmative action at work
The world is 96% morons run by a government with 99% morons. Any respect for the government is lost when they do stuff like this…
Don’t Date Robots! The world is trained to ignore everything unless it comes from the church, their TV, celebrities, or the media.

Exactly

Ummm…exactly who the hell are they to tell a company whose money they can or can’t transport? DEA has no authority to do this. Last I checked, this was a private business, not subject to DEA directives of whom they may or may not do business with.
If they were transporting keys of Columbian that would be one thing…but it’s just plain ‘ol cash – legally earned and taxed, nonetheless. I’m quite sure the couriers don’t want to miss out on this business for no apparent reason.
In the end, this is just another pointlessly aggravating bitch move by an oppressive organization whose heyday is over. Take a good whiff, jackasses – that’s your impending obsolescence you’re smelling! :nannah:

Well said :goodpost

It isn’t just the DEA either, I just read an article calling for the disbanding of the NSA,
and another one that says the original framers of the constitution hated spies & spying &
would have never tolerated even the creation of the cia. I think we could slash the budget
right now & just get rid of most of the alphabet letter agencies, their main job is trying to
spend all the money they are budgeted each & every year anyhow

Couldn’t have said it better. The DEA is on the way out because of the fact that while they were fucking with legal pot shops and spice, the prescription drug issue was getting to a ridiculously massive magnitude. Now they’re trying to deal with that but it’s too little to late. Everyone, including many in our own government are fed up with the DEA and they know this. Shit like this is just their last hurrah. You’re a really smart person 3V1L9371U5, alot of your comments about stuff are really on point.
Don’t kid yourself. The DEA is here to stay.
Well, with that attitude they certainly will! 😆
Just ribbin’ ya, ngls. I surely don’t expect a DEA liquidation yard sale tomorrow or anything. :fatty
I do believe that the country’s fed up with the pointless bullshit though. People are tired of having their doors busted down in the middle of the night, their dogs murdered, and guns shoved in their families’ collective faces, only to find out "oh, sorry – we went to the wrong house! We’re pretty sure your neighbor 3 doors down has a bag of weed, so it’s justified. We’re real sorry ’bout that. You should be able to fix that door for about $500 or so…".
Dismantling this giant would be no easy task. Hell, I’d be tickled if we could just get them chasing the *right* drugs, instead of the wrong ones. Unfortunately, it’s a lot easier and safer to cover yourself head to toe in what is recognizable worldwide as full-on military garb and go busting down the doors of otherwise law-abiding citizens than hardcore bangers.
It’s always easier when the enemy can’t effectively shoot back, and you are relatively freed of any repercussions for your actions. They know if they fuck up, the lawsuit comes out of the public coffer, not their pocket, so there really is no feedback when they do wrong. Shoot the wrong person, get a year off on paid "administrative leave", or some bullshit. Go to the next town and get the same job, etc.
Meanwhile, somebody’s family member is *dead*, for no good reason other than LEO arrogance. SOMEBODY is going to want to make sure they pay for that, and since the legal system is stacked, that route is effectively cut off too. Given no other option, people *will* take justice into their own hands. Cop killings have been on an uptick recently, people are fighting back. The shield is not 24-hour protection, and people are personally vulnerable, despite what invincible cop bullshit gets drilled into their heads every day. "Accidentally" shoot somebody’s kid? Watch out buddy, you’ve got kids and family members too, and you just made them a target by your nefarious actions.
The only alternative solution to dissolution is to demilitarize these organizations (does the DoE really *need* their own fucking SWAT team, for Christ’s sake!?), and refocus remaining efforts on what’s really important. Not trying to see how many people we can cross off the unemployment figures just ‘cos they’re in jail or "employed" on the public’s dime chasing harmless stoners.
Incarceration and conviction rates are not measurement units of police effectiveness. Neither are body counts. :horns up
