The other night when I went to turn my computer off for the night. The next morning I went to turn it back on and nothing happened. I have power to my pc, lights are on and everything but it doesn’t boot up.  Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciate it.

Do you have onboard video or a video card or both?
If you have a video card and no on-board video, I’d try taking out and putting the video card back in (reseating it).

If you have on-board video on the motherboard, try taking the video card out completely and plugging your monitor in the on board.

also, open the case and look at the board and see if you notice any blown capacitors.

Its not beeping at all, I’m not sure what kind of card it is.  I’ll have to look it up when I get home from work.

if it has a built in video card, take out every extra card and leave only 1 stick of ram. If it still wont boot, then it is power supply, mother board or cpu. change in that order.

Before you do all that – I see this all the time with newer PCs that are Energy Star compliant. They go to sleep and won’t come back due to power surges brown outs, etc. First Unplug the PC and hold the power button in for 15  seconds to drain the juice from the motherboard capacitors. Plug back in and either it will boot fine or you may have to open it up, pull the CMOS battery which is just a little round watch battery, put the battery back in and repeat. You will have to fix the time and date but…Once all power is drained, it will leave the sleep or hibernation state. HP and Dells are notorious for this. Laptops do the same but remove the laptop battery instead of opening up. Trust me 9 out of 10 times I have seen this people get screwed by techs replacing motherboards, etc.

You haven’t been around enough Macs then. Overpriced but they look pretty. And when they do break you are very fucked due to their proprietary bullshit. And a lot of nerve taking a free OS like FreeBSD, putting window dressing and calling it your own operating system.

I had the same thing happen to me..

but remember  you would have had to sometimes unattached the video cable from the card to remove it

so remember to attach the cable to the internal vid card port

Does it boot at all? Can you get to the bios and check to make sure the hard drive is being recognized. Some bios you can run a test on the hard drive. I had this happen to a laptop about a month ago, it turned out the hard drive took a shit.  I think unplugging it, is a good start.

Not me, I just smash it with a big hammer & throw it away
I don’t always throw it away either, still have pieces from my last one on the floor

If it is IBM compatible machine (runs Windows), try running a POST. POST stands for power on self test. When initially powering on the desktop, there will be a beep or series of beeps. These beeps are codes that can identify a problem or problems at start up. Different machines will have different beep codes, but you can google which ones your machine uses. The codes can identify several issues. Here is the Wikipedia entry for POST, some codes are noted:

A few years ago I had a similar issue. After trying several other things (and preparing to buy an new desktop), I borrowed a monitor from another machine and found out the monitor had died. Large contrast in the price of buying/building a new tower versus just replacing the monitor.

Already asked him that above. No beeps.
