The OSs are irrelevant in terms of tracking. They have anyone they want any time they want.
I have a Nokia 920 for work. Its a Windows phone so the amount of apps is sparse but it is a superior device to my personal Galaxy Nexus S.

Android is the obvious way to go now. Best choice for the money right now is a refurbished 9" Nook HD+ for $110. Get a stupid phone and a real tablet. You’d want to put CyanogenMod on the Nook but it’s very easy.
