This is just epic.  Best summation I’ve seen so far.

Hey,

Get the fuck over it already. I’m sorry that you guys won’t be able to play “G.I. Joe Gets a Hard-On While Wearing Full Body Armor and Assaulting a Dispensary Owner’s Dog” anymore, but get over it. It’s just weed. Seriously. Read it again and let it sink in: it’s just weed. Not only is that what I just typed twice for emphasis that is the message that Attorney General Holder and President Obama are finally acknowledging as truth from a position of high power and authority. I know it must be traumatizing thinking of over eight decades of police state fascist bullshit propaganda going out the window, but really, truly-

GET THE FUCK OVER IT.

Instead of grousing and complaining about the change in policy, why don’t you pick up a newspaper or log into your Facebook account and see how many people in this country are fed up with the War on Drugs. Listen to those people, and go do some protecting and serving. Right now your people — the people who pay your salaries and give you the authority you have abused at the hands of pseudo-scientific whack-job Puritans — want you to protect and serve our right to smoke pot. Because it’s just weed. Remember that guys. It’s just weed. Remember when the 9/11 hijackers smoked weed right before they committed 9/11 on us? Remember when Stalin smoked all that wacky tobacky and murdered all those Jews, homosexuals and Gypsies? No. Of course you don’t because that shit doesn’t happen because it’s just weed.

The fact is that we’ve let you guys run the show on this whole War on Drugs thing for long enough and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you lot are absolutely abysmal at your jobs. That is if your jobs are to get people to stop doing drugs. We’ve tried prohibition before, so I have no fucking clue why we thought we could do the same with weed, other than when we started doing that we were still just kind of getting over the whole Prohibition scene, so maybe we hadn’t quite learned our lesson yet.

Look, we don’t want our kids smoking pot, we get it. But then again we also don’t want them drinking or smoking cigarettes either, do we? So why we couldn’t treat them all equally — despite the fact that marijuana is the most benign of the three by far — and keep things civil is beyond me. At this point though, I’m far more concerned about one of my children getting popped for simple possession and spending a huge chunk of their time on Earth behind bars because our society was too cowardly to stand up to assholes like you and tell you that we know better, that we have facts and decades of observations to back us up on the notion that pot should not be treated like any other “hard” drug on the streets.

Oh wait, I’m not really all that worried about my kid getting arrested and put in jail if he’s caught with weed ten years from now…he’s white. That’s yet another reason you guys are going to look like a bunch of fascist douchebags in about twenty years’ time — the disgusting racial undertones of the War on Drugs that you lot are fighting so ruthlessly to protect. You’re not any different than the Department of Defense and our war machine, pushing our politicians into warfare titled as “limited strikes” so as not to scare the working class too much about sending their boys and girls off to die. You’re just trying to protect your little sphere of influence, your power bubble as long as you can.

Drugs are certainly not to be trifled with, and we should do our level-best to make sure they’re not rampantly abused in society. The problem for you all is that you represent the old way of looking at drugs in general, and after thirty years of “Just Say No” out of the mouths of the same people who pioneered boner pills for old people and legalized speed for kids with ADHD, the rhetoric just does not match up with reality. So you stop going after pot dealers and users, no one is telling you not to bust up meth labs. No one is telling you not to go after heroin dealers shoving bindles into our kids’ hands. We’re just telling you that it’s just fucking weed.

You’re fighting a losing battle on this one. The fact that in two states it’s now perfectly legal to obtain and use marijuana recreationally — provided you’re of the right legal age and are adhering to all local laws surrounding it — means that the days of wild and inaccurate propaganda about pot are just plain over. It’s been mainstreamed and enough of us born in the 1970′s and 1980′s have either used it or been around those who have used it enough to know that the real “Reefer Madness” is allowing a senseless, fact-free, science-denying, socially debilitating policy to continue simply because we’re too lazy to stand up to a bunch of tantruming law-enforcement officers who would probably benefit the most from a joint and an episode of “Cosmos.”

Your fight is over now, whether you know it or not. The sooner you accept it, the sooner you’ll stop looking like power-hungry gestapo, squeezing your grip on society even tighter, all the while falling further and further behind the times and looking less and less like public servants every day. It’s time to serve and protect us, not the interests of the paramilitary equipment manufacturers and private prison industries.

Thank you, James Schlarmann.  Couldn’t have said it better m’self.  :horns up
