"This lady didn’t need to be there. We don’t do debtor’s prisons anymore, that went out 100 years ago"
A mother of seven children was sentenced to jail time because she couldn’t afford the gov’t fines imposed upon her after her kids had skipped school multiple times. She died halfway into her 2nd day of sentencing.
Eileen DiNino, 55 was found dead in her cell on 6/7, 2014 in the Berks County jail. Her kids skipping school had caused her municipal court to levy $2,000 in fines against her.
