Damn, you don’t see this everyday. I’ve never taken MJ back because it was stronger than advertised…. :stoned

Canada has a strict regulatory system for the nation’s medical marijuana program. If a strain or product is at all mislabeled or tests for mold, that product gets recalled.

While uncommon, Health Canada has issued a total of four product recalls in the last year. The latest recall hit Peace Naturals Project in Ontario, whose product" (likely a strain) was labeled at 9.07% THC.

When that same product was tested at a testing facility, the result showed a THC content of 13.7%, over 4.5% higher than its listed content. The company willingly recalled "two batches of product" so as not to mislead Canada’s and to abide by the nation’s tight system.

Canada clearly has a far tighter regulatory system than Colorado and the rest of America, where product recalls for minute percentages like this simply don’t exist. While a 4.5% THC difference represents a decent dichotomy, a strain in the 10-15% range of THC is typically not that strong, and likely would not result in adverse effects on the user.

As marijuana continues to standardize itself globally, tight restrictions on the plant will likely become the norm, as regulatory factions police the market. It’s nice to see companies willing to admit they made a small mistake without that mistake resulting an overly severe punishment.
