Interesting bit in the news today, it would seem that archaeologists have determined the contents of some Mayan 'medicine bottles' from somewhere in the vicinity of 1000 AD.
Being the armchair anthropologist and former blend connoisseur extraordinaire that I am, I found this interesting on several levels.
Whaddaya know, they've identified 2 kinds of tobacco, and marigold petals. Yup, good old calendula!
It amused me greatly to think what the Mayan's take on a modern equivalent, like an FHI blend, or some of the Dude's legendary Gold Rush might be.

Also amusing that 1000 years later, we're still putting some of the same combustibles in our collective pipes.
