I recently made a trip to the hospital for some surgery on my arm, I was told to be there at 8:30 am for pre-surgerical screening. While waiting there they chanced to take my blood pressure, which I have not checked in a few months. As a preface let me inform you that I finally ran out of MB choc tide, after continuous use for months &
Suprise, my fuking BP was 235/145! Last time it was checked it was 135/85 which is much closer to normal. Anyway the hospital immediately refused to do surgery, cause they couldn’t afford for me to die on the op table & instead placed me into a room on the heart attack floor where I was dosed with 4 types of blood pressure meds over the next 24 hours. My BP finally fell to below 170/95 and then the hospital Dr wrote me several scripts for bp meds after my promise to not burn anymore spice & instead switch back to weed. On an interesting note I did discover that the reason I feel "hot" all the time lately, even in the air conditioning, was because my BP was so damn high that my head almost launched into orbit. I suppose that means my BP has been running crazy for ome time. Well, I decided to quit & also on my quit list is foods high in salt. Good Luck to you guys who don’t yet know what that crazy overheated sweaty feeling means (for me high BP) cause I’m not up for a stroke, just to get high. I can’t guess how I even got out of the hospital tonight cause I just checked & it is back up to 199/120. My worry now is that eventually the noids that I guess may be causeing the elevated BP will be out of my system & then my BP meds will hafta be re-adjusted. Wish me luck, my surgery is supposed to be back on for next week, if I can get a handle on this runaway blood pressure bs

Hey Jones, sorry to hear about your troubles my friend.  Sounds like a great time to quit, great decision.  If your BP was 235, that is extremely dangerous.  My doctor talked to me all about BP at my last checkup, said if someone is at 300, they are pretty much fucked.  The norm is 120 I believe.

Hope those BP meds help you, also lots of exercise is key to getting your BP down, as I’m sure they let you know.

I also had elevated BP when I went to my last checkup, it was around 150/70 I believe.  He made me keep track of my BP for the next two weeks to make sure it wasn’t high just because my anxiety and stress may of been elevated because I was visiting a doctors office.  It averaged around 130-135 when I checked it at home twice a day, which is a lot closer to normal.

I did notice that when I was using blends and testing my BP, it was obviously higher than when I was sober, especially my heart rate.  I know all about the sweating as well, but I have always been sensitive to the heat.

Get well soon Jones!  We feel your pain…

I hate to tell ya this Walter, but anything over 120 is now considered pre-hypertension because that is when the
flow of blood is strong enough to potentially destroy the filter mech of the kidneys. My dad has impaired function due to his once too high bp.

Well aware, buddy, well aware.  I was born at night, but not last night.

I was averaging b/w 110 – 135 most of the time.  I’m in my early 20s and I’m getting it down every week, I’m not very worried about it, neither is my doctor, said to enjoy my twenties, besides a little elevated BP in pre-hypertension mode I’m in perfect health.

Good to get checked out frequently if you blend or smoke a lot of bud though, drinkers too of course.

Wow. I’m glad they found it before something bad happened, man. Scary.

Sorry to hear that man, but at least they caught it before it turned into an even worse situation.  Good luck with the surgery next week.

Im glad they found your high blood pressure early and can treat it.  It probably has nothing to do with blends but you never know.  I remember people quitting MJ back in the 80’s because they found out they had elevated blood pressure, but I have a feeling that was unrelated too.  I would be more worried about speed or heroin use as a cause, and frankly there are some nattys that could lead to high blood pressure as well..

Stroke is real possibility for young people too, especially when you have systolic pressures over 200.  Be sure to stay on your meds because I personally knew 2 people in their 20’s who died from a stroke!!  It used to be you were put on heart meds and diuretics for BP (Inderal and Lasix).  What meds are you on?  And if you are sodium-sensitive, geeze, avoid salt!

Been awhile jones; glad to hear from you and sorry to hear you’ve had some health issues. I too have recently had a couple doctors visits where my systolic/diastolic was a wee bit high. Since mine has historically almost always hovered around 120/80, it has been attributed by health care staff to pain associated with my injury. My t-break is about two months in now; I’m leaving for pain management in a little while so I’m going to have it checked this morning.

Something to consider when burning something that makes the heart race is whether it is acute or chronic. Is bp only elevated when you use something quite strong, but not when using something milder? How long does bp stay high when not blending and are the two actually related in the long term?  Rhetorical questions…I don’t have the answers, but some things to think about when any of us are concerned about health and well-being. Stay well.

Wishing you the best Jones.

I was diagnosed with slightly high blood pressure years ago, that is the reason I hike / trail run so much.

When you get outta the hospital, start up a 4-5 day a week regimen of Aerobic exercise.

It’s better than having a stroke or ending up on heart meds at an early age.

And like you said, try to  cut out salt.

Exercise is key, like I said, our bodies are meant to be active and exercise.

Even small things like hiking, jogging, running can help with blood pressure issues.

Everyone in America overeats as well, we all do, but we really don’t need much food to survive.  That elevates our BP as well, stuffing our faces with too much food we don’t need.
