well as the night sets, and my 41st birthday approaches in a few hours I am here pondering my priorities.
I started DJing Electronic music at house parties and raves in 1999, partied like a rockstar for about 8 years solid. I love playing my music to this day, however as I am about to turn 41 I am left wondering does one outgrow hobbies like this? am I too "old" to play EDM for hours on end? I gave up "hard" drugs in 08 when I got married, however I like to partake in blends once in a while( ok daily) I have slowed down my lifestyle significantly since I got married, but this question has been lingering for a while now.
On a different note, I am praying my blends show up tomorrow so I can light a "birthday Candle"

Keep having fun. It sounds like you got it together. O and Happy Birthday.
It feels good to be running from the devil
Another breath and I'm up another level
It feels good to be up above the clouds
It feels good for the first time in a long time now
Happy early Birthday!
If your heart is still in it I say continue on, age is just a number anyways. If you still enjoy it why stop?
First of all…welcome, I don’t think we’ve been acquainted. :passone:
I can only offer this post-relevant soundtrack (perhaps not your genre, but applicable nonetheless lol):

…and offer you a quote from the world’s first outdoor shut-in:
"The thrill is in the chase. You gotta work like ya never been hurt, fuck like ya don’t need the money, an’ scratch like no one’s watchin’."
So long as it makes you happy, rock it and fuck all who say otherwise. You’re a grown-ass man, so don’t neglect any responsibilities you may have – those have to come first. Otherwise…rock the fuck on, brother!
:smokebanana From someone having a good decade more time to think on the same thing I find it’s NEVER too late too pursue your passions; about a dozen yrs. ago I hurt my back 😮 then…about six years ago I ‘gave up’ and decided it was time to finally ‘grow up’ and mentally join society. 😆 Luckily around last June I woke up, found the spice of life :broccoli, and began living again; little by little. Recently dusted off and tuned my acoustic; practicing some on nice days. Pulled out a sketch pad and cleared a "Nature Space" nook out to camouflage myself in the back yard and sketch and burn in. (When time ALLOWS!) Might get a small TENT for the STARS. If you can’t have fun too; is it worth it? :passing-joint:  :beers: (after responsibilities; I agree)
You’re never too old for the things you love.
Happy B-Day, man!
"You can't buy happiness… but you can buy weed, which is pretty close."
You’re never too old… hell, my uncle has a band and he’s in his 70’s. The important shit is if it makes you happy.

Happy birthday brother!!!!
I hope your "packet" arrives in the mail so you can "partake"!! :stoned :joint :stoned :joint
Don’t worry about being to old for our "hobby". I will be 66 years old on Halloween and I still enjoy burning herbal blendage a few times a week!!
I don’t imbibe ardent spirits and to me burning some blend is much more comforting and soothing than old John Barleycorn!!!!!!
Happy Birthday
I’m 43 going on 19 LOL
Do what makes you feel good and keeps you young.
I just started learning to play a drumset (my roommate has a set). Hardest thing ever I swear… and I already said how old I was. Do i care…? fuck no !
I do it cause I want to learn no matter what age.
Keep on trucking brotha !
"Your as mighty as the flower that grows the stones away"
If it’s too loud, you are too old!
Happy bday!
One post in this thread just admitted (more or less) to being older than me, but I don’t consider any of us as being old. I think we are all just striving to be wiser. Happy birthday, you are just gaining more experience at life. Recent experiences are helping me become humbler and kinder, and I can live with that. Hopefully a long long time.

Tiesto is still usually known as one of the top 10 DJs in the world and he is 44! Old is a mindset
People grow and change throughout their lives and the things that they enjoy, such as their hobbies, and how they feel about certain things also changes. It’s perfectly natural for you to feel that you want to move on past something that you used to think was very important or that you really used to enjoy a lot. What is important is that you can still experiment with some new things and try to find new hobbies and interests that better fit your present day self.
Psychedelics used to be a hobby of sorts for me, but my use of them eventually turned into a problem and I began taking psychedelics and tripping waaaaaay too seriously. These days I don’t even desire to trip again. I’m cool with leaving it in the past.
Go with your feelings. If you feel that you love playing your music don’t give it up. Maybe you won’t play at events anymore because you’d be "that weird old dude", especially if you aren’t using the drugs anymore, but you can still love the fuck out of EDM. Hell, I love goth, coldwave, industrial, EDM/EBM, electronic, and many other types of music. If I have kids you’d better believe their dad is gonna still listen to his KMFDM and shit. I’ll be that old dude in the nursing home blasting Front line Assembly and shit for sure.
I am always up for chatting online with some new and interesting people. I don’t really PM too many people here much. If you see this and you’re interested in chatting or are bored and such. Please hit me up. I LOVE conversation.
