In today’s society, it is almost impossible to live and not use a cell phone on a daily basis. I’m interested in which cell phones most of you go with. Do you side with Android or is it Apple? How do you view your current cell phone?
Phone Time Line: Brick Nokia – Shitty ass T Mobile flip phone – Sony Ericsson Z525 – LG Versa – Motorola Razr M – Moto X 2nd Gen
Everything before the LG Versa was my mom trying to be nice by buying my a cell phone, but then not paying the monthly bill which meant after a few months I was back to no cell phone. The Sony Ericsson Z525 I remember was from AT&T and for a flip phone did its job well. It had this shitty semi colored screen on the front and that fucker was easy to T9 text. After the cell got shut off, I finally went out to buy my own cell and start it on my own plan.
LG Versa
Don’t let the screen fool you into believing it’s a smart phone. The LG Versa was more of a feature phone that Verizon used to throw ideas at and see what worked. The best add on you could buy was the keyboard that you could attach by removing the back of the Lg Versa and attaching it to this leather cover.

That keyboard made the phone much better and helped me fly through texting. The keyboard would also fold over the phone and protect the screen. On the outside of the keyboard there was a small screen that would show you the time. LG tried creating other accessories such as a controller, but it was before its time. I have no idea if they ever released it.
Motorola Razr M
My first smartphone I bought and the phone that made me realize that I’d take Android over Apple any day of the week. Started with Ice Cream Sandwich and made it all the way to Kit Kat. For most of its life I never had any problems with the Razr M. Small and feels sturdy in your hands. After two years with no screen protection, the gorilla glass held up pretty well with only minor scratches. You also have a micro SD slot which was nice. Still don’t understand why every phones doesn’t have that yet. The only downside was by the end of the two year mark, the battery wasn’t holding up nearly as well as it once did and the OS seemed to freeze a lot more. Not sure if a simple reformat would do the trick, but I would assume so.
Moto X 2nd Gen
After trying to not get locked in another 2 year plan, I finally gave in and went with the Moto X. The customization on these phones are nuts and really adds a personal flair to the phone. Personally, I didn’t care too much since mine will be going inside a case very soon. The football leather ended up being much nicer then I originally thought and helps keep your fingers from losing grip. The aluminum sides really give this phone a solid build quality about it and makes it feel like a top of the market phone. Once I started it up I was greeted with the Moto voice program which seems to be mostly Google Now but with some more flair and Siri feel to it. Haven’t used it too much, but seems like it could become useful in the car. The coolest feature so far has to be the sensors that know when you wave your hand above the phone. You can use this technique to turn off the alarm or check the time. A very simple extra that helps make the Moto X feel a bit different then the rest. Once I started the phone up, I was greeted with the Lollipop update! After about 20 minutes I was good to go. I’m sure there are still parts I am missing, but from the time I have spent, Lollipop is an amazing version of Android that really makes it feel that Android has made it to the next level. Very clean and easy to use. I have yet to have a problem navigating through Lollipop. I really didn’t spend too much time on the stock Google Now Launcher as I have been using Nova Launcher Prime for a while now and installed it right away. In the day I have had the phone, my impressions have all been positive. The quad-core processor helps the phone feel lightening the fast. It’s just the right size in my hands and it feels like an expensive phone. Lollipop shows Android is listening and trying to create the best OS it can.
I know the battery life gets ripped on quite often, but since I haven’t had the opportunity to use the phone in my daily life too much yet I cannot say much about it. Motorola does offer the turbo charger which charges the phone to 80% in 2 hours. I doubt I’ll need to buy that, but it’s nice knowing it’s an option.

Verizon had a deal with buying a Moto X and get Sol Republic Tracks headphones for $10. I was in dire need of new cans so this deal worked for me quite well. I have only used the headphones for an hour or so, so my opinion may change as they burn in after sometime. So far the band seems really well built and feels sturdy. The ear pieces slide onto the band and are moveable for your comfort. The cord clips into both ear pieces and makes a snap sound to tell you they are properly secured. Sound wise, it truly depends on what you listen to and how you like your sound. These cans sound close to the Beats headphones I have tried on. Very bassy, the highs and mids feel like at times they are covered up too much. I don’t think I’d have ever spent the retail $100+ for these headphones, but for $10 I doubt you could get a better deal. The biggest positive for me is these headphones feel nice on my head and cause no problems with glasses. I’ll be sure to update after sometime with the Sols.
