This flick is right up your alley folks… reading the book now, but the film is really a fun ride of weirdness.  Weird drugs, supernatural forces, strange interdimensional beings on the periphery of your senses, meat monsters, etc etc… kind of like Naked Lunch and Eraserhead had a baby with From Beyond as a surrogate mother.  Yet its also philisophical, and doesn’t show said drug as a villain… but as a catalyst for amazing things.

You can check it out on Netflix if you don’t wanna spend the cash… but it really is a fun flick to watch with the lights off and doobie in hand.

Cool flick….I love it. Everyone else in my household hates it and thinks its just plain too weird –of course that means it must be good.

Love this flick. I hear the books are far better and even more wacked out. (See also THIS BOOK IS FULL OF SPIDERS)

Also,  how Kickass was FROM BEYOND? Pineal gland mofo!

Yeah, I’m reading the books now… thusfar I’m amazed at how faithful the movie is.  Its definitely a narrative for psychonauts and blend heads tho, so don’t expect the straight and narrow folk to appreciate it.
From Beyond is brilliant… right up there with The Thing for effects, and one of the few Lovecraft adaptations that outdoes the source material.  If you haven’t seen the remastered version, you’re missing out.

I just ordered it.  Weird and trippy is right up my alley.

I re-saw HArold and Kumar/White Castle last night, and am in the mood for a fresh stoner feature!

Fear and Loathing didnt stand up the book, IMHO.  I dont think the casting was appropriate–I needed people more edgy and sweaty for those two.

I will get the other ones ASAP!

Ahh, you’ve never seen the BAD Thompson adaptation…  Where the Buffalo Roam is Bill Murray fucking up the role, no visuals, little drugs, and horrible casting.  Depp spent 9 months with Thompson learning his traits and habits.

Saw it on the big screen in 1980 -yes it was awful. Thompson even called it a pile of crap; can’t understand how it rates 6.5 on IMDB. Must be some trolls boosting the ratings. Never trust IMDB ratings anyway, but sometimes they can warn one off of something really horrible.

The worst of it is that Murray pretty much plays himself, and the big drug scene is when he smokes a joint in a classroom where he’s giving a lecture.  Its kind of like watching a made for tv movie version of Thompson.  The 6.5 rating is due to Thompson enthusiasts that never bothered to watch it.  On paper it SHOULD have been an awesome flick.
