Zeusminer has announced a new $199 1.2 mH/sec portable scrypt ASIC miner named Blizzard and promises to ship no later than May 31, 2014.
The Blizzard will provide $0.17 per kH/sec mining power. The closest competitor in price, the Fibonacci Recursion USB miner will hash at 8.65 mH/sec for $400 which works out to $0.04 per kH/sec, but the Blizzard may well ship first to impatient miners.
Information so far is sparse but here are the specifications from the Zeusminer website for the Blizzard:
- Affordable and handy device for everyone
- Pocket sized
- Quiet operation
- 1.2Mh/s @ 15W
- Worldwide delivery starting latest May 31st 2014
- Shipping fees may apply
- Import duty and taxes may apply
- Very Limited Supply
To build your own 1200 kH/sec scrypt mining rig using GPU cards would cost you about $800, four times the cost of the Blizzard.
We expect to see GPU prices sink as miners try to sell off their inefficient rigs. With the introduction of the Blizzard there is no longer any reason for a new litecoin miner to build their own rig using video cards.
