I know a lot of people frown apon this but I have good beans and some middie beans but want to use the mids as a starter. From what I was told a good batch of mids grown without any males around could be some decent buds. Anyone experiment with this?

Whoever told you that was indeed correct.
Males are bad for all, unless you are purposely using one to fuck the other plants and get a shat ton of seeds in your buds.
Chop the males. Females will be happy.

What’s your definition of descent buds though? We talkin dense buds, fat buds, or potency? Or everything? haha
Regardless, these would be good starters with potential about always (right?) if done right of course.
If they sprout anyways  😉

I think it is a bust. In my experiences I throw the seeds into a cup of water for 24hrs.  Pull the seeds out put them on folded paper towels, wet the paper towel fold it over the seeds and check them everyday until they sprout.  Transplant the sprouts and look for males. I have had floated and sunken seeds sprout before.

mattynugs this is what I did when first starting out to get a feel for the grow and not waste a lot of money on expensive seeds. Good luck in the grow and keep us updated.

well im planning on doing this soon when I get my own place just a few plants for my personal use. good buds are ridiculous prices now a days and im fine with some decent buds with a little potency. the mids these seeds came from where really good not mexy reg stuff

Most of the time growing mids from seeds turns out way better than the original product. Grow twice or three times as many plants as you want to finish with. This way you can toss the weak and the males and have all nice plants.

not really. you should be using a mother as long as possible, not cloning clones.
