Most people know about Melatonin; however few know its full benefits, or how to use Melatonin properly. For most people, the proper time to take Melatonin is about 3-4 hours before bedtime. For most people, taking it just before you go to sleep does not work.

Because Melatonin is made in our bodies, and is in certain foods, it is (for most people) much safer than any other type of sleeping pill. It is made by both our pineal glands and our "guts" (gastrointestinal (GI) tract). I find Melatonin to be the only sleeping pill I need. Some foods contain melatonin; including red wine, tart cherries, tomatoes, bananas, and ginger.

Melatonin is often most useful for older people, because our bodies have lots of it when we are young and we generally make less Melatonin as we age. Generally, the older you are, the more you will probably benefit from Melatonin.

Besides sleep, Melatonin may be good for your stomach, and may even help some people with stomach problems such as GERD (acid reflux disease), and other stomach-related problems, including some kinds of unwanted bacteria.

Some ulcers may be caused by the bacteria called H.pylori, and taking melatonin can help eliminate that bacteria. The major influence of Melatonin seems to occur indirectly, through our brain-gut axis. Some studies have shown that melatonin can prevent ulcers, colitis, irritable bowel disease, and even colon cancer.

However, most people should use Melatonin for a good night’s sleep. Try it early in the evening instead of some other sleeping pill(s).

While some people get results from as little as 0.3 milligrams of Melatonin; most people find that 3-6 milligrams works best. Some melatonin supplements are designed to be dissolved under the tongue, and some are in a liquid form. Some manufacturers mix in other vitamins and compounds in their melatonin products; which may increase the chances for a good night’s sleep. Ironically, taking too much Melatonin can cause insomnia. Moderation in all things is usually the best policy.

Besides Melatonin, for a good night’s sleep; avoid stress at night, and try to eliminate all lights from your bedroom and sleep in total darkness. Note that lights that shine a yellow light, such as Himalayan salt lamps, do not seem to interfere with sleep. I have a small light handy, if I want to visit the restroom during the night.

Melatonin might even fight cancer and help people boost their immune systems. As long as you take Melatonin when the sun sets, you will probably appreciate its ability to mellow you out and help you to sleep.

Melatonin is not without it’s side effects,
Some folks feel drowsy in the daytime which can sometoimes be relieved by taking less also
I read that melatonin can cause extreme nightmares & sleepwalking. I understand you can just
rig up a couple of bear traps to keep yourself from sleepwalking all over the house tho.

Ever try Tryptophan? EDIT to say tryptophans side effects can actually be much worse than Melatonin
its all about how an individual reacts to the medicant they take
It too is all natural, just like that rat poison you can find inside of peach pits (just to illustrate
that all-natural can be just as deadly…)
Turkey is loaded with tryptophan and that is supposed to be the reason many folks begin to feel
drowsy after the old Thanksgiving meal.

Hows about something that doesn’t require any pills,
like a good old fashioned roll in the hay with the old lady? Might wanna let her know this has the least
amount of dangerous side-effects too, unless you are like John & Lorena Bobbitt  I hear he’s half the man he used to be
I actually remember seeing the front cover on "Frankenpenis" and all it was missing were the electrodes!

I’venever tried 3 to 4 hours before bedtime, I’ll give that a shot. I’ve got a boatload of this I bought on sale, sublingual. No I didn’t pay for it sublingually (cuningulously?)

And if you see your mom this weekend, tell her I said

Melatonin has helped me a lot when I stop using drugs. I usually take one 3mg pill and within 10 minutes I’m usually feeling it. My only problem with it is that sometimes I wake up and my heart feels a little weird. Nothing close to how I felt at times from blends though, so I haven’t been too worried.

I am going to try this. I have insomnia sometimes really bad. There’s no reason for me to be awake, whether it’s a work day, or not. If this really works. This would be great!

it works 40% of the time but there is only a 20% chance of that

It feels good to be running from the devil
Another breath and I'm up another level
It feels good to be up above the clouds
It feels good for the first time in a long time now

Yeah so Valerian and meltonin , I wonder if this combo would be good?

This tea works wonders. Mix it really strong with blueberry and razberry zinger and lots of sugar. Wife makes it. It will knock you out especially if you take it close to bedtime.Warm or cold. Works real good for everybody.  :5_1_125:

I feel sorry for you poor bastards with insomnia, my mom has it too.
I never have any trouble sleeping unless the damn phone won’t stop ringing & I found
that throwing it against the wall fixes that right away. Any of you dudes with insomnia ever
try some meditation, or the counting backwards from 100 while feeling lighter in your body
with each number counted? Last thing I had to do was over a year ago when I was still
using blend & that was to control my breathing. Start with slow deep breaths and breath more slowly
and deeply with every breath. It takes some practice, but it will actually cause your heartbeat to slow
until you can physically no longer stay awake. I used to fall asleep using that a lot when Midknight was
selling me his 6X poison, as it would try to keep me up at night
