Most of his works are relatively short, as he submitted them to pulp publications of his era such as the Weird Tales magazine. However some of his efforts are longer such as The Case of Charles Dexter Ward and At the Mountains of Madness. I guess you could call those works novellas -longer than a short story, yet shorter than an actual novel. He made quite an impact in the genre of sci-fi/Gothic horror and his influence is evident in recent media, such as the Reanimator movies and Evil Dead, et al.

Read many of these as a teenager.
Fans will also want to check out the author who influenced Lovecraft’s writing… the lesser known and unfortunately short lived William Hope Hodgson… similar themes, weird creatures, and a big influence on all things creepy.
