Would yall recommend that I save this for if I’m desperate?

If you ask me, this was doing a remake the right way.  I hate shot for shot bullshit like Psycho (Vince Vaughn?!?), or summarized crapfests like that Friday the 13th joint. 

This flick takes the ideas presented in Evil Dead (the original, not 2) and tells a new story with it.  Fans will notice a lot of nods to the story, and at the same time not be able to outright guess what’s going to happen.  The effects are awesome, everything practical and real, and super realistic.  I see this as a worthy addition to the series…
Oh, and there’s a bit of fun after the credits.

So yeah, watch it.  You’ll love it or hate it… but at least it doesn’t fuck up the originals.

Didnt like it.  Preferred NOES remake.  Hated F13 remake

Prefer the old version,but the new one def. not as bad as some remakes. Worth watching.

For me, the NOES remake made the same mistake as the Ft13th one… trying to explain something that needs no explaination.  In the case of NOES, it works because it’s expanding on what was already implied… but did we really need it?  Not especially. 

Ft13th on the other hand takes a supernatural threat and assigns reason to it.  You don’t make Jason MacGuyver… you don’t make him an archery champ either… he’s an unstoppable zombie killing machine.  He hunts on instinct, not bells.  Anything in his hands becomes a lethal weapon.

I thought Jason acted too diff in the remake.

Flicking on and off lights, kind of clever he was.

Yep, I think this must be viewed without trying to compare it to the original. I heard there is going to be a remake of Suspiria and thought  "WTF?" Then decided when it comes out to judge it on its own merits as a standalone.
