Boo Washington State Senate! :piss: :butwiggle:
In January, Washington’s first ever marijuana vending machine debuted amid fanfare in Seattle.
And this news was not taken lightly by the state’s powers-at-be. So last Monday, the state Senate voted unanimously (47-0) in favor of banning vending machines and drive-thru window sales in recreational shops.
The bill does not appear to impact Washington’s medical marijuana businesses at this time, but one would expect the state to amend the bill to apply to those businesses as well.
While regulations and compromises are necessary as marijuana modernizes, these bans seem like frivolous over-reactions as the bill’s intention is to "keep marijuana-laced edible products from being supplied in parks, football games and in coffee shop drive-through windows.
In due time, marijuana will be sold in football stadiums and in a drive-thru capacity. Bills like this only delay the inevitable assimilation of marijuana as a real, legal commodity into our culture.
The bill now moves to the House, who will also likely vote in favor of banning fun.
