Smokejumpers accidentally parachute straight into hidden pot garden
On Tuesday, smokejumpers parachuting into U.S. Forest Service property in southern Oregon to fight lightning fires landed on something they didn’t expect to find: a major marijuana-growing operation. More than 1,500 pot plants were carried away from the hidden garden, which investigators say is the work of a Mexican drug-trafficking organization. There were also "hundreds of additional holes and water lines being prepared for additional plants," and large piles of trash. Investigators said it’s extremely rare to stumble upon marijuana growing this early in the year on public lands, though they’re often found in late summer and early fall.

These mass grows with irresponsible handling of hazardous waste should help to justify legally growing weed for one’s own use. I think one thing that home growers should have to do is to use organic growing techniques only. This way growing at home won’t be banned from the few idiots dumping flushes from their over-fertilized plants into the sink,toilet, ditches, ponds and streams around them.

The big "cartel" grows in California are fucking things up for the average grower.
They have no respect for the environment, they usually set up shop in National Forests and they are heavily armed.
It is a BIG problem here in NorCal.
There are also big "cartel" rippers, that find the legal grows and then at the end of the year they strongarm there way in with guns and take peoples entire operations.
