Two years ago, CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta sent shock waves around the globe by simply telling the truth about marijuana. The Chief Medical Correspondent admitted he was wrong about medical marijuana’s benefits (he had shunned it earlier in his career) and, along with CNN, expertly displayed the benefits of CBD and cannabis for the youth and the elderly.
Then last year, Gupta’s support for marijuana grew with WEED 2, another pro-cannabis documentary on CNN. On Sunday evening, WEED 3 will premiere on CNN at 9 PM ET. And this time around, Dr. Gupta is pushing even more of his cannabis chips into the pot.
In a promotional op-ed for CNN, Gupta kicks his piece off by announcing "I see signs of a revolution everywhere." And he’s talking about a marijuana revolution.
Gupta explains that WEED 3 will focus on the first federally approved clinical study on the use of marijuana for PTSD", interviews with government officials (including Obama!), and an array of information about marijuana’s medical effect on the brain.
In essence, this piece further cements Gupta–a very influential voice–as a full-fledged, gung-ho medical marijuana supporter. Coming from a man with his background and respect, his voice has the proven power to influence popular opinion and facility change.
For that, Sanjay Gupta has meant a lot to the marijuana movement–and it’s great to see he’s not slowing down anytime soon.
