We had a female governor in the 80’s, Martha Layne Collins.  This was apparently a much bigger thing back then.  Getting Toyota into G-town was her other claim to fame IIRC.  In the end, they named a parkway after her, which is kinda nice, I guess.  😛

Gatewood was awesome.  Man was before his time, and way ahead of most at that.  Haven’t seen anyone near his stature to figuratively ‘get behind’ since.  I think a lot of others feel the same way, those are some bigass shoes to fill.

We need real statesmen again, instead of corporate cronies.
