My brother & I were both raised by an emotionally & verbally abusive parent. Of course there
were beatings too, but we deserved every one. I told myself the emotional abuse was due to
a misguided version of love that my dad shared with both of us. Easy to turn on- difficult to
impossible to turn off. My physically abused past gf’s all agreed that they preferred to be smacked
around to my brand of emotional abuse, & here I thought I was being a nice guy…
