Why can’t i upload an avatar from my gallery? I didn’t have a problem doing it on TGL. .. Any responses welcome,,, Are JPG’ s not compatible for avatars?

It is off on purpose. Uploading images is a huge security risk, especially jpegs.
you can host a pic on imgur.com or tinypic.com and link to it instead.
