Subject says it all.  How bad is the base herbs or RC’s for our lungs?  Anyone on here ever have any lung problems such as Pneumonia, Bronchitis, Whooping Cough from using a lot blends?

Lately a buddy of mine has had some symptoms of pneumonia from using some blends.  Anyone get bad coughs from blends on here as well?

Symptoms (these all can apply to whooping cough also.. except for you can breathe with pneumonia.) The most common symptoms of pneumonia are:
Cough (with some pneumonias you may cough up greenish or yellow mucus, or even bloody mucus)
Fever, which may be mild or high
Shaking chills
Shortness of breath (may only occur when you climb stairs)
Other symptoms include:
Confusion, especially in older people
Excess sweating and clammy skin
Headache
Loss of appetite, low energy, and fatigue
Sharp or stabbing chest pain that gets worse when you breathe deeply or cough

blends help you get rid of what’s inside you. The key is potency so 1-2 hits does the job.

Smoking of any kind of material, be it cannabis, tobacco, damiana, or mullein (with SC’s) is just about the worst thing you can do to your lungs.

In particular though, the herbs used in blend making cause a heavy build up of mucus in the lungs that doesn’t get expectorated like when smoking cannabis.

Def causing wheezing and coughing in the middle of the night.

The number one reason I would ever consider quitting.

I wish it wasn’t so.

I’m being treated for pneumonia currently.  It sucks. Been outta commission for the past week. :-

I caught a bug, tho.  Whole fam damily’s eat up with it.  Nothing to do with blends.  This is actually the first time I’ve been "sick" whatsoever in 8 years (and many more before that).

Obviously an exquisitely bioengineered weapon from TPTB trying to take the ol’ EG out of the game.  Ain’t goin’ down like that, bitches!  :pimp

I will say I’m a bit dismayed at the blackness of some of my sputum.  This would seem to bear indication of some retainment of bad stuffs in the pipes.  This is coming from "way down deep" in the lung though, where one would expect more of such accumulation.  (Please bear in mind the fact that I smoked ciggs for 17 years before quitting 6 years ago, so this may just be some really old tobacco shit I’m bringing up).

I will also admit to burning rather a bit more than my usual share of resinous material due to …ahem…"supply shortages"… in the past month or so though, which *may* be of impact as well. :steamroller

Pay attention to your base herbs.  Light green and fluffy is best – greater surface area provides more sites for binding, and thereby less carrier needed due to higher efficiency.  Darker coloration may be indicative of a higher level of unwanted contaminants, or even counterfeit herbage someone’s trying to pass off.  (There’s got to be a market for some hydroponic marshmallow somewhere here!  ;D)

I have to wonder on the "cough to get off" angle too.  If utilizing a very kind base, coughing is generally not provoked by moderate exposure, which could logically lead to a buildup due to this alone, as our dear dub as alluded to.  With greater aspiration at the top of the lungs and the constant pull of gravity, buildup would naturally settle to the bottom without mechanical encouragement to do otherwise.

Something to be said for that too, JB.  Less smoke period = less harmfuls.  There’s just something psychological at work there though.  If someone asks if you want 2 onions of blend A, or 1 onion of blend B, they both appear similar, and you have no further information to go on – you’re gonna double down every time.  Even if you don’t know the value of x, (2x>x) in any instance. With info that blend B is 3x the kick, the choice becomes much more clear.  Unfortunately there is the financial angle too – I’m a po mo fo and have to take account that a significantly phatter sack of a slightly weaker blend is likely to provide more days of burning enjoyment than a smaller sack of the bomb diggity, on average.

Not to seem like a dolt, but could this be the reason that coughing up black mucus does not seem to present itself until being off blends for an extended period? It has been almost a week break for me and now it seems the black scourge is upon me.

Thought I was doing good: I’ve known for some time I needed surgery but did not know when it would be scheduled. March 13th the doc said no surgeon would touch me as a tobacco smoker, so after smoking for over fifteen years I quit that day. Breathing better, able to smell and taste things that I couldn’t before, and it seemed my lungs were clearer. They just weren’t all the way clear and I have been waiting for that little wheeze in my chest to go away. However, I was still a daily blender. Finished my sack of Toasted early last week, and pursuant to the latest ban all the local proprietors (gas stations) have dried up. Hence my involuntary cessation of all smoking substances. The past two days have been ridiculous with coughing up black gunk. Needless to say I am at a crossroads –what the fuck have I done to my lungs? I had no idea my body would want to hold that crap in while I am trying to cough it out  :-

Edit: Evilgenius posted while I was still typing, and after reading his post I am thinking of three options. Keep going as usual (smoke til I nod every night), quit altogether, buy stronger blends and use less frequently. Is there a fourth option with health benefits or lung relief?

Once again, I have a stress-related condition where I make cups of extra mucas a day, both from my stomach and my nose.
I had lots of tests done and they cannot explain it, but when a big check comes in or the wife stops belittling me, it gets a lot
better. I gave up smoking anything for 6 months in a row, and it did not help, moderated with blends and I find they make me
spit it all up, all at once rather that during the day, I now have a nightly routine – after dinner I go to the bathroom and turn on the fan,
bringing with me lots of liquids and 2 beers. I bring my laptop too, and use Google Play. So, I fire up the tunes, take a hit or two of blends,
crack open a beer and both the blends and the beer help me to expel the extra liquid without coughing or stressing my body.
When I’m done expelling after 2 beers, I floss my teeth. When I’m done, my gums are clean, I have nothing to expel, I am
buzzed from both the blend and the 2 beers and feel great. With the music, my hour long once a day purging is kind of like
a spit-up party!  I look forward to it, making the absolute best of a less-than-ideal situation.  I found vaping did not help at all, and
without or with blends I expel the same amount, the blends and beer help me – and the wife thinks I just had beer, so no hassles
about blending.  Again, blends that work on 1-2 hits that satisfy for hours just can’t be as bad as getting blind drunk, smoking cigs, or
smoking 20-30 hits of weak blends a day, off to work on chores and articles on this day most of the world sleeps, can’t wait till after dinner!

Totally agree.  I’m at a similar point.  I can’t keep going as usual most likely, that smoking till nodding every night is very god damn rough.  Tolerance would build so fast doing that a blend wouldn’t even be getting me high next few days if I did that.

Quit together is a good option as well, because I feel better sober and don’t have any of problems like coughing, wheezing, spitting up mucus.

Stronger blends with 1 hitter quitters are my only option right now, I can’t do the bowl after bowl routine and barely get a buzz.  That sucks.  When I use weak blends I have to smoke it all day to achieve a buzz and re-up all the time, it’s just not worth it.  Kills your fucking lungs.

I’m leaning towards strong ones or quitting.

Hell no, you don’t!  You grab that thing, squeeze it as hard as you can straight back into that bitche’s eyeball and you scream as loudly and as closely to her face as you can: "I PAID FOR THE SWEET TEA, YOU CUNT!", and then you throw the rind at ‘er, just to make sure you get your point across.  :flippy:

I do think you may be onto something there, JB.  I know that’s just ‘your routine that works for you’, YMMV and all that, but I could see a balanced approach like you’re suggesting being of some benefit.  Stress and takin’ care of family will send us all to an early grave ll if one doesn’t find somehow to cope, right?  :passone:
