I had to put my best friend my Beagle Bassett Soupy down today at the vets. She collapsed night before last and could no longer climb the three steps inside. I had to make the hardest appt in my life yesterday to have her euthanized today. She was so weak that the assistant vet had to carry her inside. I had her two favorite blankets and she willingly laid down on them. The vet administered a huge does of some anesthetic and she was almost gone by the time she finished administering the dose. She didn’t feel anything from what I saw and just went to sleep. I still cried like a 5 yo for a while and have some tears as i write this. She was just about 14 and that is supposed to be the high average for this breed. My only peace is that she did live to 98 in dog years.

R.I.P. my little pup. This is her resting her head on the car seat on the way.   🙁

It feels good to be running from the devil
Another breath and I'm up another level
It feels good to be up above the clouds
It feels good for the first time in a long time now

I am so sorry to hear that, I have a beagle, and now my eyes are full of tears looking at her. Dogs are a gift to humanity. If ya need anything let me know, I dread the day when i have to do the same. My heart goes out to you

I’m sorry AciD. I know she must have been a great companion. Had to put down my beautiful blue tick hound Jasmine several years ago and still feel sad when I think about it.

I’m so sorry acid. A dog really is a member of the family. I know how hard that is…

My cat is about 15 and he is fading – I can tell he won’t last all that much longer, he barfs a lot, wife says she HATES him, he’s
a sweet cat, my best friend, and it’s sad that where I live a vet cannot come to the house to put him to sleep, so it will be agony
forcing him into a carrier for a scary ride in his last moments.  Wife says never again to getting a cat, but I’m going to replace him and
keep him in my room if the wife will not permit me to "get another cat".  I’d rather have a cat than a cold wife….

I have a cat too and he’s my buddy… I couldn’t imagine losing him…

So sorry to hear for your lost Acid. My dogs and cats are definitely part of the family. They listen to all my bullshit and know when I am having a bad day. At least she went peacefully. You are having a rough year my friend, let me know if you need anything brutha.

Jbmac don’t listen to your wife, if an animal makes you happy and content than I would get another.  All my animals have been rescues and I feel good to give them a good home and not be euthanized.  Recently our county passed  no-kill facilities which is something the local people voted for.

HUGS to you, Acid.  Pets truly are family members.  She loved you with all she had, and she was happy because you loved her too, and she knew she was loved.  Don’t ever doubt that!  She is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge – you will see her again!!!

I really feel for you. So sad. I almost cried reading it.
My wife’s parents have a beagle/basset as well.

Dogs are way better people than we are.

Having to put down a dog is one of the most difficult decisions anyone ever has to make.
I’m sorry, man 🙁
