I know some of you who have a history with Metal may want him here, but the past is the past. There was a reason things went down the way they did on TGL and everyone is better off not poking the hornets nest. As Acid said the point is mute… or did you mean moot? Either one applies LOL… One may speculate but the results are more important than the reasons… plus we would never have this cool place so it’s all for the best for everyone involved.

Did this individual not make shitloads of $ off of blends? I’m pretty sure he didn’t decide to donate that to charity when he had his big revelation. I haven’t heard of any massive anonymous guitar donations to any Goodwills in that state. Maybe I just missed that article. Sorry, but if one’s newfound morals dictate that a thing is wrong and that a lifestyle-changing event must occur, yet you retain and utilize the profits and other proceeds from the activity to further your own lifestyle afterwards, you’re nothing but a big fucking hypocrite of the highest (pun probably intended) caliber.
Did this individual not take a thriving forum related to at least quasi-legal substances, and refocus it to others that are blatantly illegal in most? Whether the law be right or wrong on either side of that equation not being at issue -that’s a whole other can of worms- but the fact is that’s why most people got into blends in the first place, was the legal angle. This alienated 95% of the board members. Membership and post counts in the interim bear this out.
His board, he can make it a midget porn site if he wants, whatever. (I might have bothered to log back in, had that been the case, actually…) Totally within rights. More power to him for going natty as well. We all wish we could, but most of us have actual jobs instead of a blend-fueled war chest to jump off with, and we simply can’t go down that road without endangering our livelihoods and families’ well being. The country seems to be moving in the right direction on this matter at least, and I look forward to the day when we can all toke and talk together without fear of heinous persecution. Today ain’t that day, it wasn’t then, and it ain’t here yet.
Aside from that consideration, the subject matter is largely immaterial. It could have become "The HO Scale Model Train Lounge" and it probably would have had about the same effect.
I’m sorry Tib, I know he’s your bro and all, but for you to admonish me for voicing my opinion in a thread specifically on this subject seems to me to say that you are cool with all of the above and still think he’s a swell guy. I don’t. I don’t know the personal circumstances of the whole story, and don’t care to. It was obviously the right decision from his viewpoint, whatever it may have been. Not wishing the guy any ill health either, but neither do I have anything but a 55-gallon drum of industrial strength "don’t give a fuck" in that regard at this point. Actions speak louder than words, and those actions spoke of nothing but an outright rejection of darned near the entire extended community from my viewpoint. Way I see it, he turned his back and closed the door on the vast majority of "us", not the other way around.
It was truly the end of an era; TGL was a beautiful thing in it’s heyday, and I was glad to be a part of it. Learned a lot, and met some really cool people.
I am moreso that Test Pilot & Company have provided us the miracle of Spiced so that we can continue those good works and camaraderie that were so abruptly cut short. My apologies to those I may have stirred with this or my former diatribe, you most of all Tibs. You have never failed to be anything but 110% cool to me for many years, and I hope you at least understand my viewpoint a little better now, for whatever that may be worth. I’ll get off my soapbox now and STFU. :-
