I haven’t use commercial cleaners in years, for several reasons:
1. I’m sensitive to fragrances, and it seems like companies like to stink things up with heavy, overpowering, lingering perfumes
2. Commerical cleaners are expensive
3. they are bad for the environment
My sink cleaning routine, which I perform once a week – seems excessive, but my sink never smells!
1. Insert a cut up lemon and several ice cubes into the disposal and run it – the ice helps keeps the blades sharp.
2. Dump a bunch of baking soda down the drain, add enough vinegar to get it fizzing, let it sit.
3. Boil a large pot of water, pour down drain to wash away baking soda/vinegar mixture.
I also make my own
1. all purpose cleaner
2. laundry detergent
3. glass cleaner
I love being green. 🙂 8)
anybody got a problem with flies? well.. get ya a ziplock baggie. fill it halfway up with water. put 4 pennies in it. close er up. sit or hang up wherever you may have a problem with flies or simply dont want the flies to come around. say your outside grilling & dont want the flies round the food. just sit them around or hang them up. should keep them away. if its a REALLY bad area make up a few baggies. they say it keeps wasps away too. nobody is for sure why they stay away but some say its cause they see the reflection & think its a bigger bug then them. who knows. but glad it works!!
I tried the can of coke in the toilet before. Comet still works the best I’ve noticed…
Easiest way toclean a toilet is to dump in some bleach, leave it for a few hours & flush, clean toilet awaits you.
Some scrubbing will be needed wherever the bleach can’t touch the nasty, so fill it up good!
dump a box of baking soda down a smelly sink. Run hot water until it is clear. Smell is gone.
Concur. Use hot water for best effects and if it is so equipped, run the disposal as well.
Im not so sure about all of those Wd40 tricks.

Tilver tarnish comes from sulphur. WD40 might make it worse, and besides, you can use it for anything food-related.

see#7
14. Keeps glass shower doors free of water spots.

see #7
17. Lubricates noisy door hinges on vehicles and doors in homes.
agreed
18. It removes black scuff marks from the kitchen floor! Use WD-40 for that nasty tar and scuff marks on flooring. It doesn’t seem to harm the finish and you won’t have to scrub nearly as hard to get them off. Just remember to open some windows if you have a lot of marks.
test out of the way area first. Will remove some finishes, especially on wood or linoleum.
19. Bug guts will eat away the finish on your car if not removed quickly! Use WD-40!
Detergent is better for bug guts. Bug guts tend to be fatty, so any detergent or ammoniated product works better. WD40 is great on tar though.

test on spall area first. Car wax works too.

use sparingly and wait for the volatiles to evaporate befor energizing, otherwise you might get a fireball! Silicone works more safely–I’m a safety guy.
28. Lubricates wheel sprockets on tricycles, wagons, and bicycles for easy handling.
Agreed. Lubes bearings on toys.

33. Lubricates prosthetic limbs.
why not? but #7 is important
34. Keeps pigeons off the balcony (they hate the smell).
so do people. Not sure this works either.

well, it is Florida
38. The favorite use in the state of New York, WD-40 protects the Statue of Liberty from the elements.
it might work for a while but I think they use other stuff. The statue of liberty is basically copper.
39. WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a little on live bait or lures and you will be catching the big one in. Also, it’s a lot cheaper than the chemical attractants that are made for just that purpose. Keep in mind though, using some chemical laced baits or lures for fishing are not allowed in some states.
no. Don’t do this. this is implicitly a bad idea
40. Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately and stops the itch.
maybe if you are from Florida or are a folk. For fire ants use cold water or benzocain/lidocain; fire ants use oxalic acid, For bee stings use hot water to neutralize the toxin protein, and for mosquito bites use corticosteroids–moquito bites are basically an allergic reaction.
41. WD-40 is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and wipe with a clean rag.
test in an out of the way area first. Will remove some paints and harm or irreversably stain wallpapers

no it’s not. the ingredients are Stoddard solvent, LPG, mineral oil and naptha. Stoddard solvent is basically turpentine or petroleum spirits–paint thinner.
A couple really good uses not mentioned are to keep padlocks working smoothly and if you have a frozen (winter frozen) key lock on your car or even a frozen padlock, WD40 is really good at freeing them so you can get the key in and turn it.
